One jar, many rituals

Cook. Bake. Finish.

01

Cook with it

Sauté, fry and roast with it. Bloom whole spices in warm ghee for tadka, curry or any dish that needs a fragrant start.

02

Bake with it

Swap it for butter or oil in cakes, biscuits, pastry and traditional sweets. It is brilliant for greasing tins too.

03

Finish with it

Spoon it over porridge, rice, dal, soup, toast or roasted nuts. Blend a little into coffee, Mojo Malt, cacao or a warm spiced drink.

Our story

Raised on ghee. Deepened in India. Built with Mom.

Maha Ghee started long before it had a label. I grew up eating ghee. My mom cooked from a well-loved recipe book filled with ghee recipes, and she taught me how to make it at home.

My own path took me deeply into Ayurveda and across India, where I learned more about the traditions around ghee and the care behind something that can look so simple from the outside.

Years later, a ghee-loving friend moved overseas and passed a handful of customers on to me. Mom and I decided to see what those few jars could become. We began at markets, grew into a professional production space, and we are still a family business at heart.

Traditional where it matters

Time, instinct and the moment it turns golden.

Making ghee is a conversation with heat, time, colour and aroma. Every small batch moves at its own pace. We stay with it for many hours, watching the foam settle and waiting for the point when the moisture is gone and the flavour has deepened.

Proper caramelisation matters to us. We do not simply separate out butterfat and call it done. We let the batch develop its rich, nutty aroma, then filter and jar it while it is clear and luminous. The finer details stay part of our craft, but the flavour is yours.

Keep your jar happy

Clean spoon. Dry jar. No fridge needed.

Maha Ghee is made to live in your pantry. Keep it sealed, upright, cool and out of direct sunlight. Always use a clean, completely dry spoon. Water is the quickest way to shorten the life of a jar.

Warm weather may melt it. Cooler weather may make it creamy or grainy. It can reset differently after transport, a little like coconut oil, and all of that is normal. Colour can vary slightly between small batches too. If you choose to refrigerate a jar, keep it refrigerated instead of moving it repeatedly between cold and warm conditions, where condensation can form.

The jar we are building toward

A more transparent, more humane ghee.

Our long-term dream is ahimsa ghee: ghee made through relationships and practices centred on non-harm and genuine care for the animals, land and people involved. Today we are still on the road to that standard, and we are inviting you into the journey.

DreamKnow the source personally

Work directly with aligned farmers. Perhaps one day we will care for land and cows of our own.

Every purchase is a vote for the direction you want food to move in. Choosing Maha Ghee helps us invest in cleaner sourcing, direct farmer relationships and, eventually, true ahimsa ghee. We want quality and ethics to lead the business, not sit behind profit.
